Polymers in Photovoltaics 2012 will take place from 24-26 April 2012 at the Maritim Hotel in Cologne, Germany. There is a welcome reception and registration on the first evening followed by a 2-day programme of speakers on technical issues and market trends.
The solar power industry has been expanding worldwide mainly where government support and subsidies are available. In the tight current economic situation the photovoltaic manufacturing industry needs to bring costs down to be self-supporting and to have long-term stability. The new polymer components coming into the market may offer improved costings and processing including in use as encapsulants, back sheets, adhesives, sealants and front sheets, as well as composite module frame materials and thin film PV substrates.
The performance demands on solar modules are high due to sun, wind and rain exposure. On buildings there are additional regulations, for example, fire performance. Plastics and elastomer components are modified with anti-UV, flame retardants and other additives to meet the challenges.
Polymers in Photovoltaics 2012 aims to examine a wide range of topics on module manufacturing including the markets, materials, manufacturing equipment, technology and certification worldwide. It provides a unique networking and sourcing opportunity for module manufacturers, solar power companies and suppliers to the industry.
